Manufacturing with attention to detail

Offering highly-controlled conditions away from the unpredictable UK weather, the demand for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and modular units grows at speed, offering flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and minimal disruption.

Our units are manufactured at our expansive eight-acre manufacturing facility in Bridlington, East Yorkshire - a controlled environment where our modular, single and multi-storey systems are crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Being a small team, we have a streamlined decision-making process, meaning we can respond swiftly to changes and opportunities, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes without compromising on attention to detail, with our clients receiving personalised attention.

Paul Coates

Managing Director

Leading the business with experience, vision and a commitment to excellence. Paul joined Ideal Building Systems in 2005, bringing with him more than 20 years of industry experience. After acquiring the business in 2008, Paul has led the business's growth and strengthened its reputation within the industry. Through his hands-on leadership style and focus on building strong client relationships, he has helped establish the business as a trusted provider known for its reliability, flexibility, expertise, and excellence, while maintaining the family-oriented culture that remains at the heart of the business.

Chris Murray

Commercial Director

Helping shape the commercial strategy, performance and future direction of the business. Chris joined Ideal Building Systems in 2014 as Senior Estimator and has since progressed through the business, becoming Estimating Manager, Commercial Manager and, in 2021, Commercial Director. Working closely with the Managing Director, he leads the commercial function while helping to oversee the wider performance and day to day operations of the business, supporting the company's continued growth and long-term success.

Sam Breaks

Head of Finance

Providing strategic financial leadership to support business growth and performance. With over 10 years of finance experience and six years at Ideal Building Systems, Sam leads the finance function across the business. He oversees financial operations, reporting, governance, compliance, payroll, and ISO accreditations, while providing commercial insight to support continued growth. Sam also plays a key role in carbon reporting and R&D initiatives, helping drive innovation and sustainability across the company.

Macy Crabtree

HR Manager

Putting our people at the heart of the business. Macy joined Ideal Building Systems in 2025 as HR Manager, bringing over eight years of HR experience across the public and private sectors, including manufacturing and construction. She oversees all aspects of HR, supporting employees and managers alike while helping to create a positive workplace culture. She describes the business as a ‘real team effort’ with everyone willing to roll up their sleeves and support one another.

Stuart Bulleyment

Works Manager

Ensuring excellence in production, training and safety across the business. With over 40 years of experience in the modular construction industry, Stuart brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Ideal Building Systems. As our IPAF Instructor, he ensures our team remains fully trained and up to date with the latest powered access and working-at-height standards, while also overseeing all production operations to maintain the quality and efficiency that define our projects.

Mark Hartley

Drawing Office Manager

Driving design excellence and innovation across our projects. With over 25 years of experience in building design and construction, Mark has been with Ideal Building Systems since 2000. Now Drawing Office Manager, he leads the design team and has played a key role in delivering some of the UK's largest MMC hospital projects, working closely with clients to bring concepts to life.

Jack Chaytorr

Health, Safety and Systems Manage

Promoting a strong culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement. Jack joined Ideal Building Systems in 2025, bringing experience in Health and Safety management across the food manufacturing and utilities sectors. Following service in the British Army's Royal Corps of Signals, he now leads our health and safety initiatives, helping to foster a positive safety culture across the business.
